Check out this video from the popular show “How its Made”. If you look carefully, you’ll see an example of background sensing technology, using photoelectric sensors, in the manufacturing of a popular V-twin motorcycle engine.
Pay attention to when the rod and bearings are assembled onto the crankshaft (00:43) and you’ll see a familiar red light; a measurement confirmation photoelectric sensor ensures proper assembly. Also, look again as the operator installs the tubing that houses the push rods (01:49), do you notice anything familiar? These are common examples of how photoelectric sensors help manufactures error-proof their assembly processes.
Nice example Andrew! Thanks!
